Walking In The Cotswolds
The Monarch's Way
This long distance route of 610 miles follows the supposed
escape route taken by Kings Charles 11 after the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
The route covers about eighty miles through Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds
and is well waymarked with a ship on a white background and the trail is marked
on all new editions of Ordnance Survey Explorer maps.
There are three guide
books available from bookshops and Meridian
Books, the publishers.

damaged or faded. All public footpaths on explorer maps are marked with a green
dashed line and national trails and long distance paths are in green with diamond shapes linking the dashes.
