Blockley, a Cotswold village in Gloucestershire situated in the north of the Cotswolds between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping
Campden. Blockley is one of the largest villages in the north Cotswolds.
Blockley lies off the beaten track, sheltered in a deep valley along the north-west side of the Blockley
Brook.
Blockley is a pretty village, noted for the former silk mills which brought wealth and
prosperity to the village during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
These mills, the largest being Westmacott Mill together with the terraces on the valley side,
give much of Blockley a distinctive character. The powerful Blockley Brook enabled the village
to become one of the first to produce its own electricity.
The attractive village green overlooks St Peter and St Paul a Church of Norman origins and
the bowling green, which is said to be the only piece of level ground in the whole of Blockley.
The streets are narrow and lined with 17th and 18th century, traditional golden, Cotswold stone cottages
built into the hillside.

There are several walks which lead from Blockley and can be followed using guide books into
the beautiful countryside which surrounds the village.
There are several small shops which can supply visitors and residents with essential items, but for the main shopping
a visit to Moreton-in-Marsh or Stratford-on-Avon will be required.
Getting Here
Blockley is off the A44 from Evesham 11 miles and Oxford 32 miles. Stratford on Avon is 15 miles, Moreton-in-Marsh 4 miles and Chipping Campden
4 miles.
The nearest rail station is at Moreton-in-Marsh with services operated by First Great Western Link.
