Sudeley Castle nestles in the Cotswold Hills close to the ancient town of Winchcombe. The castle was built in 1441 by Ralph Boteler.

The castle was home to the last wife of Henry V111 when Queen Katherine Parr married Sir Thomas Seymour. The Queen is buried in the church in the grounds of Sudeley. Many other members of the royal  dynasties stayed at the castle on numerous occasions.

During the English Civil War the castle was destroyed by Cromwells troops and lay derelict for the next 200 years. The property was bought by John and William Dent a family of famous glove makers who began to restore part of the building.

The gardens are a joy to walk around. The Knot Garden was recently designed by Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall and the Secret Garden was designed by the late Rosemary Verey.

There is an adventure playground for children, a small garden centre and shop.

There is an admission charge which is average prices and a good day out is promised. The castle also stages other events throughout the year. Opening times March-November every day.
