few miles from Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Surrounded by lakes created by decades of gravel extraction, South Cerney has grown into one of the
largest villages in the South Cotswolds.
South Cerney, known locally as "Cerney", is an attractive village sitting astride the River Churn, has
gabled cottages dating from the 16th and 17th Centuries and a church from Norman origins.
The church is dedicated to
All Hallows and contains a carved wooden head and foot of Christ, said to have been taken from a crucifix in Compostela.
South Cerney is a mixture of old Cotswolds stone cottages which line Silver Street, Clarks Hay and Church Lane in the older part of the village
with modern housing estates of private and local authority properties in the newer parts of the village around Broadway Lane
and Station Road.
The village has a variety of shops and services including a small shop, Post Office, take-aways, chemist, hairdressers and a veterinary practice.
