Focusing on medical herbs. Entitled Modern Applications of Old Philosophies, Julia will look at the approach of modern herbalists, how they view dis-ease and the concepts behind prescribing herbs. After coffee on arrival, delegates will receive a guided tour of the garden, including its herb garden, from its creator and owner Wendy Dare. After lunch Julia Scott will give her talks and invite questions from her audience. She will also be on hand to sign copies of her books. Plants, including herbs grown at the garden and herb seeds, will be on sale. Julia has run courses at her home, The Walled Garden, Worcester, for many organisations including the National Trust and Pershore College.Tickets, which include coffee on arrival and a delicious ‘herby’ lunch, are priced at £23.95 for members of the Royal Horticultural Society and £28.95 for non-members. All tickets must be pre-booked from the RHS ticket line by telephoning 08456 121 253.

An important date for your diaries if you and your family like your food – Sunday 6th July, 2pm at Cove House, Ashton Keynes. This is Ashton Keynes Pre-School final big fundraiser of the year and what a feast we have for you – Butts Farm demonstration, Cookie Club for Kids, Baker’s Arms Burgers, celebrity items for auction, Grub-bola, Scribble and Scoff plate decorating, Badge making, Animal Corner, Home-made cakes, Home produce and plants, Beer and Pimms, Candy Floss and a large number of food-related stalls all under the cover of marquees if bad weather. We also have a Food Quiz for sale with a super My Secret Kitchen Goodie Bag, worth over £50, for the winning entry. Completed quizzes brought along on the day gives you free entry into the Fayre – see any Pre-School parent for a Quiz sheet at just £1; these will also be available on the entrance gate. Garden Tours with Margaret Morris at 11am and 2pm. Margaret Morris has been the chairman of The British Clematis Society for the last 3 years, previously serving on the committee for ten years, co-ordinating the Shows and ordering the Sales Table stock. Prior to this Margarget owned Sherston Parva Nursery (which has over 400 Clematis!), having started the nursery from scratch. She exhibited at all the large shows for many years, before selling on the nursery when she retired.

Garden Tours with Charles Chesshire at 11am and 2pm. Charles Chesshire is Sudeley's consultant designer and wiil be joining us on Sunday to share his knowledge and answer your questions. Charles is a garden and landscape designer, writer and lecturer. He has been making gardens for over 30 years in the United Kingdom, the USA and France. He was the curator of Burford House Gardens, Worcestershire for 10years until 2003 and has been the consultant designer for Sudeley Castle Gardens since 1998. His gardens have ranged from the Roof-tops of Manhattan, the beach fronts of the Hamptons on Long Island, to the Welsh borders where his business has been based for the last 15 years. From there he and his co-designer, Anna Laflin, have been working on gardens around the Welsh borders, on a major restoration of a Luytens garden near Rugby and on many gardens in other parts of Britain and in the South of France. Charles trained as a designer by studying Horticulture at Writtle College, and by working and studying at a number of great gardens such as Heale House, Caerhays, and Spinners. He also studied painting under Cecily Sash. He spent a year in Saudi Arabia, 9 years in the United States, before settling back to his home country around Ludlow in Shropshire, England.

Charity Dinner at the Maharaja Indian Restaurant (rear of the Volunteer Inn, High Street, Chipping Campden). To raise money for Chipping Campden Town Council's Flood Resilience Committee. The cost is £20 per head to include a three course a la carte dinner and drink (pint of beer, glass of wine or soft drink). Children half price. Great raffle prizes to be won.
