Summer Bay and Winter Bay
Horseshoe Lake consists of two main 'arms' or 'bays' known as Summer Bay and Winter Bay with depths from an average of 4ft in
Summer Bay to an average of around 11ft in Winter Bay. It’s weedy in all areas, some very dense and mostly sparser
silkweed, hence there is only a handful of larger clear bottom/gravel areas.
Fish stocks are up to 30lb in weight and there are at least 100 at 25lb, mid doubles to low twenties - running into several
hundred, therefore an overall average weight would be around 18 to 20lb. The current lake record stands at 42lb 10oz.
Alongside the carp fish of all species swim the lake. Bream in excess of 14lbs, Tench in the 6-9lb bracket are
common and Roach at 3lb plus, rudd, pike and perch are also likely to bite during the winter months.
The fishery also enjoys an excellent modern centrally-heated toilet and shower block including facilities for the
disabled angler.
Horseshoe Lake also have a small shop stocking rig bits and pieces and bait which can be ordered in advance.
Horseshoe Lake fishing permits are available to Carp Society Members only. New permit options are available from 1 April for 2005/2006
season.
The fishery also has a number of swims which can be reserved for disabled anglers.
