Restaurants & Pubs

The Cotswolds is a great place to eat out. You can experience local home grown foods, cooked to perfection or you can try a variety of international flavours prepared at many restaurants including Thai, Indian or Chinese. Many local pubs now serve excellent food prepared by quality chefs, but fortunately you can still buy good value "pub grub" such as fish & chips or ploughman's.

Great British Tea rooms

Afternoon tea was created by the Duchess of Bedford during the early 1800's because, it is said, she grew hungry during the day. The custom during the 19th century was to have only two meals during the day, breakfast & the evening dinner, so people would become more hungry as the day progressed. Tea 200 years ago would consist of a pot of tea with fresh scones or cakes, today, you can have any type of drink from cappuccino to Earl Grey tea, sandwiches, a selection of cakes & pastries & of course the perfect Cotswold cream tea made from the freshest of ingredients.
