Visitor Information

Buscot Park House Buscot Park is the home of Lord and Lady Faringdon. Buscot Park was built by Edward Loveden Townsend in the late 18th century at a cost of £20,000. The formal gardens include designs by the eminent 20th century designer Sir Harold Peto.

The estate was sold to a Robert Terius Campbell in 1859 and after spending many thousands of pounds turning the estate  into a model agricultural estate he left England returning to Australia after selling the estate to the 1st Lord Faringdon in 1889.

The Water Gardens designed by Harold Peto The fine collection of art is the combined work of the previous Lord Faringdons. The Faringdon Collection is an accumulation of pictures from artist such as Rembrandt, Murillo and Burne-Jones amongst the many artists on display.

The extensive pleasure gardens are a joy to view. The Peto Water Garden, designed by the eminent 20th century designer Sir Harold Peto was laid out in 1904 after being commissioned by the 1st Lord Faringdon and links the house to the lake. Various pathways lead the visitors to quiet parts of the woodland park including the Swinging Garden, a joy for young and old.

The Four Seasons Walled Garden The present Lord Faringdon lives at Buscot Park and has transformed the former Kitchen Gardens into the fine walled gardens of today. The garden is divided into four, called The Four Seasons Garden and is joined in the centre by a lily pond complete with a fountain and balustrade. In the corner of each of the four borders are statues of the Four Seasons designed by Frank Forster.

The house and park was given to the National Trust in 1956 and Lord Faringdon administers the estate on behalf of the National Trust.
